These beautiful earrings have a natural Australian opal doublet set in a 3mm wide 14k gold bezel with 14k gold ear wires. The opals measure 15mm long by 6mm wide. The length of the earring (with the striped border) is 22mm. They are 13mm wide. Classic yet modern, these earrings are very comfortable to wear all day as they are lightweight but are very eye catching with their flashy opals. They will ship with clear silicone stoppers to prevent them from sliding off your ear.

Opals are formed when water runs down through the earth and mixes with silicon dioxide. As the water seeps into cracks and crevices (that are caused by natural faults or decomposing fossils), the water eventually evaporates, leaving the silica. The silica particles catch the light and diffract it, giving the stones the luminescent quality opals are known for. This process of creating an opal takes millions of years!
