Teardrop Opal Pendant
Solid Australian Crystal Pipe Opals set in 14k yellow gold with a sterling silver back. The teardrop pendant has a 14k yellow bezel that is 3mm wide, 14k yellow wire rings and a sterling silver snake chain. The 14k yellow gold chain can be substituted for a sterling silver chain.
Australian Crystal Pipe Opals are found exclusively in Queensland, Australia. Crystal Pipe Opals are found in roundish tubular holes found in ironstone boulders, hence the name. They are known for having bright colors, mostly from blue to green, although there are rarely some other colors, like pink or orange, too. These opals are created in the same way other opals are made-water carrying silica finds it way into sandstone and when the water evaporates and there is the required pressure, an opal may form. It takes about 5 million years for an opal to form!
