Blue Tourmaline Heart Pendant in 14k Gold and Sterling Silver
Beautiful and rare, blue green tourmaline heart set in 14k gold with two 3mm white topaz accents. Blue tourmaline is also known as indicolite and is more unusual (and valuable) than the other colors tourmaline comes in (pink, green and watermelon to name a few). The heart measures 18mm across and 14mm from the center of the heart to the point. The two white topaz accent stones are 3mm each and have 2mm solid 14k gold balls on each side. Overall, the pendant measures 23mm wide and 22mm long (measuring from the top of the circle to the tip of the gold border. The back of the pendant is sterling silver and is hallmarked as 14k and sterling silver. The 14k gold chain shown is a flat oval chain, but you can substitute another type of chain if you wish, just convo me for alternatives.
Tourmaline was first discovered in 1554 by Francisco Spinoza who thought it was a type of emerald, calling it a "Brazilian Emerald". Tourmaline is also found in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Russia, Burma (Myanmar), Sri Lanka (Ceylon), and the United States (California and Maine). Several African countries have recently become big producers of gem Tourmaline, specifically Madagascar, Namibia, Mozambique, Tanzania, Nigeria, and Malawi. Tourmaline is one of the birthstones for October, along with opal. It is also the gemstone for the eighth anniversary. The beautiful blue and green of tourmaline is caused by copper infusions.
