Labradorite Necklace with Sapphires, Garden Pendant with Rose Cut Labradorite in Sterling Silver, OOAK Nature Jewelry, BOHO style
One of a kind, flashy rose cut Labradorite set in fine silver and wrapped in sterling silver vines with four 3mm faceted sapphires. This stone has such a mystical air about it, with its traveling flashes, I decided to accentuate it with oxidized silver vines and tiny sapphires to give it an almost historical look. This beautiful Labradorite cabochon measures about 5/8" square. With the silver vines (cast from actual plants), it is 7/8" tall and 1 1/8" wide. The 18" rolo chain is permanently soldered to the piece so it will lay flat while being worn. I have added a sterling silver lobster claw clasp for a secure catch.
Labradorite is a very interesting stone. It was originally discovered in Labrador, Canada, in the Maritime Provinces, but has since also been found in Norway and other locations around the world. Labradorite displays an iridescent effect which is the refraction of light through its submicroscopic layers. Its remarkable play of color is known as "Labradorescence".It has been said that Inuit people believed that Labradorite fell from the frozen fire of the Aurora Borealis. When you are looking at it, you can see why they thought that with its beautiful flashes of blue and green.
