Faceted Labradorite (18mm by 13mm or about 3/4" by 3/8" wide) set in a 14k gold bezel with 14k gold twisted wire edging. This beautiful ring has a wonderfully flashy Labradorite stone that is cut and polished to exhibit maximum fire. Every turn of the ring reveals a different blue, gold or green flash. The bezel setting is soldered onto sterling silver sheet to keep costs reasonable. The band is sterling with a 14k twisted wire edging, at both top and bottom edges.
Labradorite is a very interesting stone. It was originally discovered in Labrador, Canada, in the Maritime Provinces, but has since also been found in Norway and other locations around the world. Labradorite displays an iridescent effect which is the refraction of light through its submicroscopic layers. Its remarkable play of color is known as "Labradorescence".It has been said that Inuit people believed in the past that Labradorite fell from the frozen fire of the Aurora Borealis.
