Australian Koroit Wood Opals set in 14k bezels on a sterling silver band with 14k gold granulation. These are solid opals, not doublets or triplets but a thick piece of beautiful opal that is set in a 3mm wide 14k gold bezel. The sterling silver bands are 3mm wide. The solid gold ball granules are approximately 2mm in size.

Wood opal is a form of petrified wood which has developed an opalescent sheen or, in this case, where the wood has been completely replaced by opal. This process began when a mixture of water and silica ran down over fallen trees. Over time, the water evaporated, leaving the silica behind (which is what opals are formed from). It is estimated that it takes 5-6 million years to create an opal!

The blue opal ring is a size 8 and can be sized up to a size 8.5. The purple opal ring is a size 7.5 and can be sized up to a size 8.
