One of a kind, beautiful Peruvian Opal necklace with 14k gold bezel and 14k details on a 20" sterling silver link chain with lobster claw clasp. This beautiful stone measures 3/4" by 1/2" and it is set in a 3mm wide 14k bezel and then bordered by sterling silver twigs. The sterling silver twigs were cast (using the lost wax process) from actual live oak twigs. There is a 3mm 14k gold ball at the bottom edge and three graduated 14k gold balls at the top next to the 14k gold jump rings. The back of the pendant is embossed with a swirling water pattern. Truly a unique piece!

Peruvian Opal is a rare stone that is only found in the Andes mountains near San Patricio. The colors are reminiscent of a Caribbean ocean and it commonly has dendrites that add to its "picture" quality. It is the national stone of Peru. It is about 5.5 to 6.5 on the Moh's scale of hardness which is about the same hardness as glass so some care must be taken not to scratch the stone.
