Rainbow Moonstone diamond shaped stones set in 14k bezels on a sterling silver backplate and accented with one dainty 14k ball. These flashy stones measure 12mm by 8mm and are set in 3mm wide 14k gold bezels. The total size of the earring is 20mm by 12mm and the 14k gold ball is about 2mm. According to Hindu mythology, Moonstone is composed of solidified moonbeams. As lovely as that sounds, we now know that Moonstone is part of the feldspar group of minerals. When it is forming, orthoclase and albite separate. When light gets in between the two layers, and a phenomena called adularescence occurs. Adularescence is the light that seems to move across a gem. Moonstone is considered by some to bring good luck and also to aid in seeing the future, especially if you hold a moonstone during the full moon.
