Tourmaline is found in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Burma (Myanmar), Sri Lanka (Ceylon), and the United States (California and Maine). Several African countries have recently become big producers of gem Tourmaline, specifically Madagascar, Namibia, Mozambique, Tanzania, Nigeria, and Malawi. Tourmaline is one of the birthstones for October. Tourmalines are a fairly hard gemstone and measure 7-7.5 on the hardness scale.
The Watermelon Tourmaline is a rare variety that has two full ranges of different colors in the same crystal. The color of the Watermelon Tourmaline occurs completely naturally under specific conditions. Watermelon tourmaline is said to attract love and balance the male and female energies. The green part feeds your life force and the pink harmonizes it.
Chrome Diopside originates in Siberia and was discovered in the early 1800's. It gets its name from the Greek words "dis" and "opse" which mean two faced. This refers to the two ways of cutting the gem, depending on its orientation. This gem is sometimes referred to as "Siberian emerald" as it has the color of good quality emerald.
