Australian Koroit Opal set in 14k gold setting on a sterling silver band, this ring is sure to become a favorite! This gorgeous opal has flashes of blue, purple and measures 12mm by 8mm. It is set in a 14k gold bezel that is 3mm wide. The backplate (under the stone) is sterling silver, as is the band. The sterling silver band is 3mm wide. This ring is a size 7 and can be stretched to a 7.5. Koroit is an opal field (an opal mining area, not a town) located in southwest Queensland, Australia. Koroit opals usually have a brown matrix surrounded by flashes of color.

Australia opal rates at approximately 5.5-6.5 on the mohs scale which is a similar hardness to glass. It is, therefore very important that you treat your opal very carefully and avoid subjecting it to force or to any other activities that could potentially damage or break it. I would advise you to remove any opal jewelry while showering, bathing or any strenuous activity (gardening, sports, etc.)
