Australian Opal Ring with Solid Multi Color Opal in 14k Gold and Sterling Silver

Regular price $595

Flashy, one of a kind, solid Australian Opal set in 14k gold with a sterling silver backplate and a sterling silver band. This very colorful opal measures 10mm by 8mm and shows alternating flashes of pink, red, yellow and green. Opals are prized for showing flashes of red and this one definitely has those elusive red flashes. It is a size 7 and can be stretched to a 7.25. If you are looking for a different size, I do have a large collection of opals available for custom work. I would be happy to send you photos/videos of available stones.

Opals begin as a mixture of silicon dioxide and water. When fresh water (from rain or streams) runs down over sandstone, it picks up trace amounts of silica from the sandstone. This silica and water solution can sometimes find its way into cracks and crevices. When most of the water evaporates, the silica remains. If the conditions are just right, an opal is created. The process, although seemingly simple, takes millions of years to create one opal. Opals are all one of a kind and each has its own special beauty. Opals are about 5-6 on the Moh's scale of hardness which is about the same hardness as glass. Care should be taken so they are not scratched. To protect their beauty, they should not be stored in direct sunlight. Always remove your opal jewelry (and really any fine jewelry) when playing sports, swimming, gardening, doing housework, etc..They should be removed when showering because they can be affected by chemicals and perfumes like those in soaps and shampoos. With normal care, they will last a lifetime!

This ring will arrive in a beautiful gift box with a free polishing cloth. Like all my jewelry, it comes with a lifetime warranty. If it ever needs a repair, just send it to me and I will fix it and return it to you at no cost. Gift wrapping is available free of charge, just convo me if you would like it wrapped.
