Hexagonal gemstone pendants in sterling silver, one with a flashy rainbow moonstone and the other with an Amazonite doublet. Both are made with a movable bail that adds something extra to a clean design. The rainbow moonstone pendant measures 1 1/4" long (including the bail) and 1/2" wide. The Amazonite is slightly smaller at 1" long by 1/2" wide. They are shown on 18" sterling silver rolo chains, but you can purchase either one with or without the chain. According to Hindu mythology, Moonstone is composed of solidified moonbeams. As lovely as that sounds, we now know that Moonstone is part of the feldspar group of minerals. When it is forming, orthoclase and albite separate. When light gets in between the two layers, a phenomena called adularescence occurs. Adularescence is the light that seems to move across a gem. Moonstone is considered by some to bring good luck and also to aid in seeing the future, especially if you hold a moonstone during the full moon.
Amazonite is a blueish green variety of Feldspar and it is mined in various places around the globe. Some of the major deposits are found in Colorado, but it is also found in Brazil and India. This mineral is said to calm one's emotions and soothe one's nerves. The hexagon in this pendant is topped with a layer of clear quartz to give it added depth and strength.
