Flashy Labradorite statement ring with 14k gold twisted wire border encircling the stone (which is set in a 14k gold bezel on a sterling silver backplate). There is a border of 14k gold twisted wire on the oxidized sterling silver band. This rose cut stone measures 7/8" by 1/2" (17mm by 12mm). The oxidized sterling silver band is bordered with 14k gold twist wire and is 1/4" wide (5mm). This ring is a size 7.5.
Labradorite is a very interesting stone. It was originally discovered in Labrador, Canada, but has since also been found in Norway and other locations around the world. Labradorite displays an iridescent effect which is the reflection of light through its submicroscopic layers. Its remarkable play of color is known as "Labradorescence".It has been said that Inuit people once believed that Labradorite fell from the frozen fire of the Aurora Borealis. When you are looking at it, you can see why they thought that with its beautiful flashes of blue and green.
