Beautiful and completely natural Peruvian Opal square set in sterling silver with a delicate flower casting (from a real flower). This one of a kind stone measures 1/2". The overall size of the necklace centerpiece is 7/8' by 3/4". I have attached a sterling silver link chain to the top corners to insure that it hangs properly. The 18" long chain is a mixture of long and short links and has a lobster claw clasp for security.
Peruvian Opal is a rare stone that is only found in the Andes mountains near San Patricio. The colors are reminiscent of a Caribbean ocean and it commonly has dendrites that add to its "picture" quality. It is the national stone of Peru. It is about 5.5 to 6.5 on the Moh's scale of hardness which is about the same hardness as glass so some care must be taken not to scratch the stone.
