Beautiful and completely natural Peruvian Opal with 3mm faceted Emerald set in sterling silver with attached sterling silver chain. This bright aqua stone is a little bit of summer captured. There is a bouquet of sterling silver flowers cast from actual live plants to accentuate the nature theme. The stone is 15mm x 12mm. The attached sterling silver chain has a sterling silver lobster claw clasp and is 18" long. I've pierced a window on the back so you can see the beauty of the stone from both sides.
Peruvian Opal is a rare stone that is only found in the Andes mountains near San Patricio. The colors are reminiscent of a Caribbean ocean and it commonly has dendrites that add to its "picture" quality. It is the national stone of Peru. It is about 5.5 to 6.5 on the Moh's scale of hardness which is about the same hardness as glass so some care must be taken not to scratch the stone.
